Abstract

Annotation: The interaction between teachers and students has long been regarded as an important determinant in educational outcomes. This article investigates the various effects of teacher-student relationships on student motivation and achievement. Drawing on empirical research from a variety of educational situations, it investigates the mechanisms by which positive teacher-student relationships promote student success. The consequences for educational practice is investigated and recommendations for cultivating helpful and productive teacher-student interactions in a variety of learning situation are made in this paper.
